Our Story
50 years of artisanal garment care.
Founded in 1974, Lido Dry Cleaning was built on time-honoured artisanal traditions. What began as a small family promise — to treat every garment as if it were our own — has grown into a three-generation legacy of trust on Singapore's East Coast.
Chapter I
The Shanghainese Founder
Our founder arrived from Shanghai with the master trade skills of his hometown — deep fabric knowledge, meticulous stain removal, and careful hand-finishing. In 1974, he opened Lido Dry Cleaning and planted the seeds of a craft that would outlast trends.
Chapter II
Mr. Hoo Cheng & Family
Those foundational techniques were passed down to second-generation owner Mr. Hoo Cheng. For over 40 years, Mr. Hoo and his wife have been a fixture of the East Coast district, perfecting the art of fabric care and serving generations of loyal families.
Chapter III
A New Generation
Today, under Mr. Hoo's mentorship, Lido transitions to its third-generation owners. We honour this 50-year legacy by preserving authentic craft while introducing modern digital conveniences for today's customer.
